It is said that, upon finishing Pheidippides' first words were: "Joy to us, we have won!" His next words were "My feet are killing me!"

It's also said that Pheidippides actually ran 150 miles over two days. :-0. No matter, yours is a great accomplishment. I'm sure Alex is proud of you. And I look admiringly to you from across the Atlantic. Well done! -- Jim

Well done James. Great piece. And fab to get to a marathon from less than 5k in such a short space of time. I started during lockdown and never imagined I'd make it to 10k. I can do 12 but I'm reasonably confident my 64 year old body will probably never quite make it to a marathon. After reading your article though, I think the charity thing would be a great reason to try.
